For an informal wedding, approximately 10 days to 3 weeks would be acceptable time allotment to send out wedding invitations. For formal weddings, give at least 3 to 6 weeks.

Answer 2/9 - Submitted 7/9/2011

I would recommend sending out the invitations at least 4 weeks prior to the wedding. If the wedding is around a holiday, summer, or spring break, I would then send them out a bit earlier than that.

People plan their vacations early so put the word out to those closest to you. You can also send out a "we are engaged and save the date" postcard as soon as you know the confirmed date.

The wedding experts are saying you should send out your invitations at least six weeks before the wedding. People have a lot of planning to do for it. Then you are supposed to ask for RSVP for three weeks before the wedding or at least two weeks before it. That is so you will have a good head count.

Answer 4/9 - Submitted 7/9/2011

Most people say to mail out your wedding invitations about six weeks before the date. However, if you have some people that you want to invite, but don't have room for, maybe send your main invitations out 8 weeks in advance, and if you get any early declines, then you can use those spaces to invite the people that didn't fit on your original invitation list, and it wouldn't be too short notice. If you have any invitation going overseas, make sure to account for that extra delivery time.

The usual period is 1-3 months before the wedding. Ideally you should do it as soon as you have all of the necessary information to provide to guests and have set an RSVP date. Usually the RSVP date will be about 2-4 weeks before the event - but you should check with caterers and venue when they need to know final numbers and ensure you factor this into setting the date. you should also bear in mind that the final weeks leading up to the wedding will be busy and plan to prevent it from becoming a stressful time - so an early RSVP date is best.

It can be wise to send a Save the Date as soon as the wedding date is confirmed (even if this is 1 year in advance) so that people know and can plan to attend your wedding.

First off, Congrats on your engagement/wedding! Secondly, Its funny you should ask because Im in the process of planning my wedding right now and Im going to be sending out my Save-the-Dates approximately 6 months before the wedding and then the formal invite about 2-3 months before the wedding just because Im having my wedding in Palm Springs, CA and all of my relatives live in Northern CA. It can give them plenty of time to get all their arrangements (transportation, hotels, etc. ) together. Hope this helps, Goodluck!

Answer 7/9 - Submitted 8/7/2011

Wedding invitations should be mailed out 4 - 6 weeks in advance of the wedding. People lead busy lives and need time. If you are having a location wedding, a wedding during a holiday period, or are inviting out-of-town guests, save the date cards should also be mailed out 6 months to a year in advance.

Answer 8/9 - Submitted 8/7/2011

I would highly recommend sending out the invitations as early as possible, one to three months in advance so your guests will have ample time to make necessary preparations , arrangements etc.

Wedding invitations should be mailed out 8-12 weeks ahead of the wedding.
